Well, I've been MIA here lately due to our vacation & finals. Excuses, excuses, I know. Well I'll fill you in on our first full day back at home, besides doing laundry & all the other yada yada details of our day.
I got rid of all our squirt bath toys, really glad too after seeing THIS. I organized them and bought a couple new, cleaner toys to replace them. I also made homemade bathtub paint, like THIS.
I don't know about you, but my Amazon wish list is never ending! So Hubby take note, here is my top 10 3 "wishes" for Mother's Day. Please tell me why out of about 100 things I can only find 3 I really want right now?
I LOVE this movie & Judy Garland. My musical collection is greatly lacking might I add.
If I can't travel somewhere physically, I can travel there by the way of a book. I'm currently obsessed with France & this is my next pick to read on the subject!
Last week was monster week at our house! I made sure Joey wore his Monster PJ's, we read a lot of monster books, watched a few monster movies, & tried to do a few monster activities.
We watched Monsters VS. Aliens (its animated, I don't like it, but Joey loves it), Where The Wild Things Are (I don't like Max's behavior in the beginning so we made it a learning moment), & Monsters Inc.
Joey absolutely loved monster week! I wish I would have put a little more effort into it. We are doing an "Ocean" theme this week. Hopefully he will like it just as much!
Have you ever seen Beaches? If not, you should. It's a classic. I didn't realize that Mayim Bialik (HERE is her blog) played young CC Bloom.
Anyway, on to my point.
The Glory Of Love... as a parent!
You've got to give a little.. Time, energy, love, & money. Wait, you give a lot of those things. You do also give hugs, kisses, & snuggles. Oh and bladder control, you gave that up too.
Take a little... help, when you can get it! You also take any chance to pee or shower alone.
Let your poor heart break a little... When you realize your carpet & furniture won't be stain free for a very long time. When they cry when you drop them off at preschool. When they're sick and you can't make it all better.
You've got to laugh a little... Note: Do this a LOT! When your kids say the funniest thing ever, daily. Enjoy that. Be silly though, make them laugh. They're only little so long. Not only that, but we never know when our last moments on earth will be. So make memories & enjoy the time you do have! Don't laugh too hard though, remember you gave up bladder control?
Cry a little... When you feel disgusted with your body, post child. When you just want sleep. When you just want help. When you have to make those scary decisions you sometimes have to make as a parent. When you just feel like a failure, but you're not.
In the end, it's a big crazy happy/sad/exciting/scary (oh the list could go on) thing, called parenting. Live in the moment though. Laugh when something is funny. Cry when it's sad. Just remember that no matter what it's all just a phase. Before it you'll be on to the next stage in the blink of an eye.
Until the clouds roll by a little. That's the story of, that's the glory of love.
